Things to do

The old fishing village of Emsworth is at the centre of a fascinating area with Portsmouth and its Historic Dockyard and the new Mary Rose Museum to the West, Chichester, a walled Roman Cathedral City with its famous Festival Theatre, and Goodwood, to the East, the South Downs National Park to the North and Chichester Harbour, an area of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty’, to the South, all within a 10 mile radius. There is a large variety of restaurants and pubs in the town, providing a excellent range of food from a Michelin Star Restaurant to harbourside cafes.

The Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth, featuring HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the new Mary Rose Museum together with a boat trip around Portsmouth Harbour and all its associated history, makes a day out on its own without even visiting the shopping and restaurants at ‘Gunwharf Quays’ and the spectacular 130 m Spinnaker Tower from which the view of Portsmouth and the Solent is stunning.

About 8 miles away is Goodwood House where the ‘Festival of Speed’ is held each June/July, the Motor Racing Circuit that hosts the ‘Revival Meeting’ in September each year, as well as the Horse Racing featuring ‘Glorious Goodwood’ in July.Stansted House with its many Shows is only two and a half miles away and the Queen Elizabeth Country Park is just 7 miles up the road.

Chichester Harbour

Chichester Harbour is one of England’s designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). This area makes for a great day out as there are several pretty villages to explore, a beautiful coastline and plenty of space for walking and cycling through the countryside.

The real deal, my wife and myself stayed for three nights in the pink room and it was great, the beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was a treat, this was home from home. We both fell in love with the house the moment we saw it on the web and when we arrived it was even better. To share this beautiful home with Viv and Anna was a pleasure, if you want modern plastic and chrome this is not for you, but to have a taste of the past with luxury thrown in this is it. We are going back again in May for a few days and i am sure it will not be the last.

Trip Advisor

One of the best bed and breakfast accommodation we have stayed in. Great hosts. Breakfast very good. After our daily trips we would come back and make tea and take it and sit in the wonderful grounds, seeing foxes and even deer. We shall definitely be returning.

Trip Advisor

Beautiful and architecturally interesting house in very large grounds. Our bedroom was very spacious and the whole setting was incredibly quiet and peaceful. Super comfortable beds and nice extras in the room - tea and coffee facilities but also a tin of biscuits and some bottled water. Delicious breakfast, freshly cooked to order. Friendly and informative hosts.
